Dorado, completed in June of 1999, is the newest of the
three Jack Nicklaus-designed local courses (along with
Palmilla and Cabo del Sol’s Ocean Course) and the
second of Cabo Real’s courses. Its spectacular construction,
with 6 holes hugging the coast and the rest carved out
into two magnificent canyons, will help golfers fall in
love with Los Cabos.
Designed in the same vein as the Cabo Real Resort Course,
this course incorporates over 80 bunkers. Nicklaus uses
the water, in the form of the ocean as well as the course’s
four lakes, to his advantage in creating a golfing experience
that requires both patience and prowess. A good example
of this is the par-4 11th hole, which doglegs around a
lake before ending in a green surrounded by water on the
near side and bunkers on the other.
This
